Escuela de I Ching Internacional

I CHING

Taming time

A seminar by Ezechiel Saad on The Book of Changes

I Ching encompasses the vast history of mankind.  It has distilled from this history, fundamental patterns of change which span our evolution and can help us to define the critical juncture at which we find ourselves today.  By virtue of its holistic nature, I Ching sets the stage for a more casuistic reading, and a more personal, autobiographical, interpretation.  The I Ching enables us to better understand the nature of our daily decisions as well as the general course of our lives.

Ezechiel Saad will be your guide through the labyrinth of I Ching, starting with an explanation of the structure of the Book.  He will introduce you to varied readings of the oracle.  Discussion will focus on how to adjust one's own personal  « time » to that of the Book of Changes, with the knowledge that a better understanding  of Consciousness leads to the building of a better life.

After thirty years of intensive study and research into the Book of Changes, Ezechiel Saad has developped his own insightful approach to I Ching.  He will lead his discussion, focusing on the relevance and resonance of the ancient Chinese oracle today – dawn of the twenty first century. Ezechiel Saad's method is visual and personal.  He uses traditional Sangi sticks modalities for consulting the I Ching.

EZECHIEL SAADs Method for Interpretating

The Book of Changes

Over the course of years of intensive research and contact with numerous experts and scholars, Ezechiel Saad has formulated his unique approach to I Ching, providing insight to the doctrine itself as well as our own mental processes.

For Ezechiel Saad, the study of Chinese thought and the study of self are inseperable.   In addition to the study of original written texts, Ezechiel Saad stresses the importance of a living initiation to I Ching.  He welcomes the input of those whose personal experiences can enrich their knowledge of the ancient tradition of I Ching.

Ezechiel Saad has practiced Zen meditation with Taisen Deshimaru (over 11 years) and with Maezumi Roshi (for a short time).  He has travelled extensively throughout the Far-East and North/South America, experiencing Chinese and non-Chinese influences.  All have contributed to his teaching methods.  Other teachers and sources of spiritual nourishment have been :  Dr.  Joseph Needham ( Cambridge ), Dr. Irene Eber (Hebrew University of Jerusalem),  Dr. Gregory Bateson (Stanford), Khigh Alx Dhiegh and Dr. Chang Chun-Ya (philosophers), U.S.A..

In 1989, Ezechiel Saad helped to create a Taoist Library, a collection of writings on "Dao".  He is also President of the International I Ching School ( EYKI ) founded in Paris in 1996. He is the author of two books:

Yi king, mythe et histoire, Sophora, Paris 1989.

Hasard et Intuition, spiritualité, Yi king et science, Dervy, Paris 1991.

Magazines :  Génération Tao, Initiations, Intuitions, Le Courrier de l’Unesco, Le Chant de la Licorne, Nouvelles Clés, Sources, Uno Mismo, La Mazarine, New York Open Center, SinoSanté, etc. Wanderings  Japon : 5 times ( from 1970 to 1991 ), Chine : 2 times ( 1987 et 1988 ).

Pedagogy

Ezechiel Saad create a method of study of I Ching, and founded few years ago a school of I Ching in Paris. He have been researching the I Ching in the three main levels of study :

1.) Oral version of Fu Xi of the neolithic

2.) Written (and revised) version of the Zhou.

3. Written (and revised) version of the Warring States (Mawangdui.)

He found my practice and teachings on the first level.

The lines are a pure contact with

– 1) The determinism of the phenomena of Changes

– 2) The identity  and individual perception : the inconscious ( the back ), its mental processes, and the intuition (the front)

– 3) The relationship with chinese medecine and the practices of taoists mouvements as Tai Chi and Qi gong.

The work with the lines reveals and confirm the kind of logic on chinese thougth and the system of the hexagrams, and become the best way to introduce the I Ching in the scientific frame of the Western thougth. The chinese historical basis and the basics of I Ching philosophical and metaphysical approach are indeed the background of a new way of improve and employ I Ching as a universal tool of understanding phenomena and ourselves. He introduces from 1999 the I Ching in psychiatric, psychoanalyst and therapeutics cenacles.
